Reclaiming Your Time...

We recently had an opportunity to visit our alma mater, Florida A&M University (FAMU), with our children. Naturally, this visit conjured up memories of two college kids hopelessly in love, who had no clue of what the future would hold for them… In fact, I can’t remember us actually trying to guess and figure out what would happen next. We were just content being together.

Of course, a lot has changed since then. We’ve traded our coursework deadlines for project deadlines, our tuition for bills, and our carefree lives for lives filled with responsibilities. But one thing hasn’t changed, and that is that we’re still content just being together.

How about you and your marriage? When did you last notice you were content just being together? Have you reflected on your beginning recently? Do you remember a time of being carefree and in love? A simpler time? How much of that can you intentionally choose to hold on to? Or to reclaim?

Today, take a moment to reconnect with your spouse. Share a pleasant memory over a cup of coffee and a smile. Choose to enjoy each other.
